Woven reflections

When the world stopped and we weren’t sure what was coming next, threading moments and weaving daily actions in the tapestry of life became so important. “One Stich at the time” became one strip at the time. This necklace has been constructed by cutting and weaving strips of aluminium coffee pods, incorporating knotting cords with three possible lenght to allow it to sit to perfection.
Weaving with ingenious determination; with the purpose of turning waste to wonder. Interlocking and creating, individual wearable works of art.
This unique piece reflects quiet times in nature, a reserve, a lake close to home. Discovering the gentle play of colours and shapes on autumn days, drifty moments observing shifting skies, shimmering water surfaces blending to create a semi abstract scene of calm and harmony.

This reversible statement necklace has been designed responding to an invitation to participate in Sustainable Couture 2020 a Fashion event in Alice Springs, organised by a creative network of Australian designers who have fused their skills to forge a unique approach to recycling and refashioning.
