Telling a bit of the story… A story of daring to try, of experimenting, of improving, evolving… A story of second chances with many surprises along the way.

Like many other events, 2020 call for cancellations, reschedules or transformation. It couldn’t be any other way for Sustainable Couture, the show was upcycled and reinvented to make use of technology and make it happen once again.

I had the pleasure to participate in the “One stitch at the time Collection” for Sustainable Couture’s 2020  filmed and released online  to keep the show alive despite it all. Yes you can watch it too!!

For me, it was an opportunity to stop, reflect and then start creating again. Threading moments; weaving daily actions, memories and thoughts in the tapestry of life. “One Stich at the time” became one strip at the time. These new works were constructed by cutting and weaving strips of aluminium coffee pods, incorporating textile strips as well as knotting cords to add to the entwined collection.
Developing new skills on this time-consuming process, a mindful motion of detail and repetition. Weaving with ingenious determination; with the purpose of turning waste to wonder. Interlocking and creating, not only sustainable eye catching accessories but individual wearable works of art.

Contemporary accessories, yet, timeless in character. From a practical point of view, these exclusive jewellery pieces are also versatile, extremely light and comfortable to wear.

City of stirling exhibition art awards 2019

Exhibition took place on early November 2019 at the City of Stirling Reception Hall, Stirling, Western Australia.

Once again transforming aluminium coffee pods. Coffee capsules are a convenience product, cold and inert which will be used for an instant and discarded in a flick. They will then linger in the environment for hundreds of years if disposed carelessly.

Flowers, on the other hand, are so lively when in bloom yet ephemeral in their existence.

In this work I explore the possibility to deviate the permanency of those pretentious coffee capsules from being a threat to nature to a blossoming everlasting bundle, which aims to celebrate the beauty that nature so selflessly shares.

Have you ever wondered how many seashells are there in the ocean? Have you ever wondered how many coffee pods are thrown away around the world? The answer to both is likely to be MILLIONS!!
Millions of coffee capsules are used every day, 30seconds to make a coffee and up to 500 years to decompose, a press of a button which places convenience over the responsibility we have to protect our environment.

Inspired by the beautiful and diverse seashells that drift ashore in Western Australia, the collection “Out of a shell” has emerged. It’s time to come out of the shell, with confidence and dedication; become drivers of change and be the difference we want to see. We can choose to keep sitting on the dock of the bay; wasting time and resources… or jump on board the boat of sustainability, make better choices to stay afloat for much longer. All on the same boat for a better future for us and those yet to come…

Eco Fashion week Australia 2018

Eco Fashion Week Australia was an adventure, a complete push out of the comfort zone. A real experience of finding what’s achievable if you give it your best shot, seasoned with imagination, passion and creativity. Presenting the “Golden Spell Collection” inspired in the evolution and value of  gold… no time, no place, just shine… Abundance and excess of golden sparks and coffee pods.

Is it all that glitters is gold? Coffee pods, a shimmering pleasure, are they truly so?

Lesmurdie arts and craft club
50th anniversary exhibition 2018

Exhibition took place in September at the Zig Zag Gallery, Kalamunda, Western Australia. Time to celebrate! Flowers are gifts from nature and are themselves a celebration.Collection inspired by flowers, their beauty, colour and vibrancy. Created using aluminium coffee pods, which if disposed, would have contributed to harming the soil, the flowers and our environment.

Having the support of my family and selling 4 out of 5 pieces on opening night made it an unforgettable experience.
